Here are some of the sheets we use with our $10,000 project. Our guidelines mirror the $1,000,000 project from Everyday Math, but on a smaller scale and the requirement of purchasing flooring (after finding the square footage of your bedroom).

Also have attached the example ppt I use in the beginning of the lesson to provide guidelines. Students begin by sketching a diagram of their room size, this is important when purchasing flooring, and reinforces measurement concepts. Students then continue by "purchasing" items, (talk about unit price versus total price) we try to be accurate and include things like shipping costs. Once there is a list of items they break them into categories (e.g. electronics, furniture, etc) so as to complete a pie chart at conclusion. Will need to make as many copies of itemized category sheet as students have categories (three categories needs three sheets).

Have fun, enjoy.
